The holidays are just around the corner and many child care center owners and directors are looking for ways to recognize their staff at this time of the year. Kris Murray has put together an extensive list of 12 Holiday Gift Ideas for Your Child Care Staff but here are a few of our favorites:
- Holiday party - there are many ways a child care center can recognize staff during a holiday party. As an owner or director, you have many options as to when you would like to host the party to ensure the best attendance. Many child care centers that we work with choose to host holiday parties right as the center closes so staff do not have to go home and then come back to the workplace. A nice party with food and drink that lasts a couple of hours after work is a great way to make sure that everyone attends. During the party, you can either hand out small gifts as a token of appreciation or recognize staff for their hard work during the year. Maybe a teacher recently achieved a new license or degree. Make sure to recognize staff in front of others so they feel appreciated.
- A gift for the office - Is there something all of your teachers have been asking for over the past year? Something that will make their day-to-day lives easier? Maybe it is a new coffee pot or something in the teachers’ lounge that will brighten their day. Whatever it is, a gift for everyone will be the best option. Keeping teachers happy is essential throughout the year.
- The gift of time - Offering teachers a paid day/morning/afternoon off in addition to their current paid time off is something that will never go unappreciated. Letting staff know that they are being recognized for hard work and offering them some personal time (especially around this time of year) is always a big hit with child care center staff.
