I was nearly bursting at the seams with excitement as I stepped across the threshold for my first center visit. I had talked to literally thousands of centers on the phone when I used to work for Procare. This was different. I was meeting a center owner and director face to face. There were so many questions swirling around in my head. What are their current pain points? What systems do they currently use to run their center? Would they be as excited about SmartCare as I am?
It only took a couple of minutes for me to realize that all of my questions were about to be answered and they indeed were just as excited about SmartCare as I am. Child care center owners, directors and teachers are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. I would end up visiting 9 centers in 13 days. I visited child care centers with hundreds of children and some centers with as few as thirty children. I saw centers that used Procare, Tadpoles, Teaching Strategies Gold, and Life Cubby. I saw centers that used pen and paper and an old-fashioned punch time clock. Every center was different but there was a common theme: they are all fed up with their current child care management solution and need something better.
It was amazing time and time again to see their faces light up as we demonstrated the SmartCare platform. They would tell us the problems they had with their current system, whether it was Procare, check-in/check-out, or having to update 5 systems every time a child changed a classroom. We would then show them our solution to that problem and they would say “wow” or “I love that”. It was a great experience knowing that in just a few short months we would be able to get these owners and directors out from behind their desks and out of their offices doing what they lovemost, teaching children and interacting with parents.
Before visiting these centers, I thought that SmartCare had a chance to change the child care industry. Now I know that we are changing child care for the better. I hope that you will join us on this wonderful journey.
